What to Expect on the Day of the Walk

  1. The walk will take place, rain or shine.  It can be cold and rainy, so please remind people to bring overcoats, ponchos, umbrellas and rain gear!
  2. We meet inside the Lincoln East High School building in the South Gym.  You can enter through the south concourse doors (athletic entrance) on the southeast side of the building.
  3. Activities usually begin around 9:15 a.m. with music, free beverages of water, milk, juice and coffee in the south gymnasium at East High.
  4. The walk begins inside the gymnasium at 10 a.m.  The walk is approximately a one-mile route.  The paths are hard surface.  Signs will be posted and leaders will help guide.
  5. Feel free to bring and donate: Nonperishable food items for the Food Bank, as well as new or gently used backpacks (gender neutral and large enough to hold a 15-oz. box of cereal) for the BackPack program.  The Food Bank will have donation barrels at the walk.
  6. The East High entrance on South 70th street will be closed to vehicles, so please use the Seacrest Field entry on A Street.
  7. Parking will be available at Seacrest Field on the west side.
  8. Please park your car, and head for the East High building for the welcoming program and event instructions.
  9. Restrooms are available inside East High.
  10. If you are bringing children 12 and under, take responsibility for their actions and welfare.
  11. Please remember this walk is not only a fund-raiser, it is an educational opportunity.  So help spread the word about the BackPack Program.
  12. Dogs are not allowed inside the building.  They must remain outside.
