Freshmen Band Concert – December 2020

Freshmen Band is an opportunity for students to get a “sampling” of all of the things they get to do in high school band.

First quarter begins with Marching Band.  The Freshmen are their own ensemble and learn the basics of marching, in addition to learning a whole book of pep band music to be played at a handful of Varsity football games and Varsity volleyball games.

Second quarter we are done with marching band and our focus turns to Concert Band.  We have a concert in December, usually with the choir and orchestra.

Third quarter we start to add Freshmen Jazz Band into the rehearsal schedule.  Students interested in participating in Jazz band can play – no audition required!  Students will alternate between concert band and jazz band every other day during their class time.  NO before/after school rehearsals necessary!  The end of third quarter we have both a concert band and a jazz band concert.

Fourth quarter we prepare for NSAA District Music Contest and our last concert of the year.  It is always so exciting to see the progress the students make throughout the year!
