Complete Theme 2 October 1-5
Long Vowel Lessons October 8-12
The long vowel lessons are designed to expose students to these skills earlier in the year. They will learn about CVCe pattern of spelling. Ex) mat/mate, hop/hope, etc.
Theme 3 October 17-November 2
Phonics:
Week 1: Double final consonants (ll, ss, tt) and plurals with -s
Week 2: Verb Endings -s, -ed, -ing and Possessives with ‘s
Week 3: Consonant Clusters with r (gr, tr, br, dr) and Contractions with ‘s
Comprehension/Reading Strategies:
-Topic, Main Idea, Details/Summarizing, Making Predictions, Categorize/Classify
Sight Words: animal, look, of, this, all, eat, first, why, when, also, color, funny, many, some
Word Families: -ack, -ap, -ip, -in, -ick, -ill
Vocabulary Words: cluster, daybreak, innumerable, shower, predict, track
Spelling Words
Test 10-19: an, at, can, cat, had, man
Challenge: grass, chat, flap, like, that, drag, add
Test 10-26: in, it, him, big, sit, did
Challenge: dish, chin, whip, skip, milk, flip, have
Test 11-2: trip, crab, drip, grin, grab, trap
Challenge: trash, drank, string, crack, trick, bring, said
Writing
Complete Unit 1-Small Moment stories
-Add details to your focused story.
-Tell the “inside” story. How did you feel? What were you thinking.
-Voice- make your story sound like you!
-Write a close in or jump in ending that relates to your story. Not “Then I went to bed or Then we went home.”
