December 4-8, 2017

Hello families!

Next week we will be practicing our fine motor skill of cutting to make a snowman, practicing literacy skills with a gingerbread easy reader, making apple pie in a cup, tasting different apple products, and using a graph to describe and analyze results. We will continue to explore the focus question “What can we do with parts of trees?” and our letter of the week is K, k.

Our safety lesson for next week continues on touching safety. Students will learn and practice what to do if someone breaks the touching rule. The touching rule is: “No bigger person should ever touch your private body parts except to keep you clean or healthy.”

The safety steps to follow when someone breaks the touching rule are:

  1. Say words that mean no or stop.
  2. Get away
  3. Tell a trusted adult. If you don’t get the help you need, keep telling adults.

I understand that talking about touching safety can be a sensitive topic. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Please welcome the new Speech Language Pathologist assigned to our classroom- Miss Kate! Miss Kate will be at Kloefkorn on Mondays and Wednesdays to serve classroom students with speech and language needs.
